FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
Can I replace a section of my door, or do I need to replace the whole door?
Yes, if only one or two sections are damaged, and we can find suitable replacements sections. However, if tracks, rollers, and hinges are heavily damaged as well it may be more economical to replace the whole door. Call us and we will be happy to come out and advise you on the best, most economical course of action.
Can my new or existing garage door be painted?
Absolutely. A quality latex paint will work very well. Be sure to clean and very lightly scuff the door with a fine steel wool pad and soapy water. Rinse the door thoroughly and allow it to dry before applying paint. Deep scratches in the door that expose the steel should be primed with a quality steel primer.
Will you install a door or operator I purchased at the local big box hardware store?
Of course. We do ask that you consult us before ordering so we can be sure you are buying a system that will last. For instance, all the doors we sell include upgraded hardware like heavier hinges and nylon, ball bearing rollers.
One of the two springs on my door is broken. Do I need to replace both?
We always advise replacing both since the spring that is not broken is just as worn as the spring that has snapped.
What is R-value, and why should I care?
R-value refers to how well the door will insulate your garage from hot or cold. The higher the R value, the greater the insulation. Higher R value doors are also sturdier and quieter.
Do you repair any garage door brand?
We certainly can and will!
Can you help me repair my broken garage door spring after hours or help me with a garage door emergency?
Yes, we will certainly do our best to get you going again. Call us first before attempting any repair on your own. Garage door cables and springs are under very extreme tension and can cause injuries. Sometimes, we can help remedy small problems like misaligned or obstructed safety eyes over the phone and get you on your way.
Will you accept credit cards?
Gladly! We can take payment over the phone or if given an e-mail will send you your invoice with a secure link to payment.
How do I know if my door is properly balanced?
A properly balanced door—that is with the proper springs for your given door that are adjusted properly—will be easily raised and lowered manually. Further, a properly balanced door will be able to stop in the halfway open position and stay there without any support.
When I replace my existing door, do you replace my old track?
Our new installs always include new track, heavy-duty hinges and ball bearing rollers, and a spring system specifically designed and calibrated for your door. All of that adds up to the smooth, quiet operation and longevity of your beautiful new garage door!
